Fitter of the Year - LVT - 2025 – The Semi-Finalists

The final of the Fitter of the Year Competition - LVT will take place on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd September at the Flooring Show in Harrogate.

Entry for the 2025 competition is now CLOSED.

All entrants were initially required to complete a questionnaire. Ten successful applicants from this stage advance to take part in the practical trials, and from these trials, five contestants will progress to the Final. Please refer to the Competition Format page for an initial overview of the process.

Hayden Barr

Hayden Barr I started out in the flooring industry at 16 straight out of school and working with my dad out of an old Freelander. Since then, we have come a long way growing the business and striving to make our fitting the best it can be. I am always looking for ways to improve and challenge myself and this competition is a great opportunity to do just that!

Wesley Brocklesby

I'm Wesley Brocklesby from Ossett. I've grown up in flooring trade and I am part of the second generation now running our family business with my brother. The business has been going over 50 years. For the past 8 years I've specialised in the installation of Luxury Vinyl Tiles, attending various training courses to help learn new techniques and improve my skills and knowledge, to help get the best finish. I'm always wanting to improve on my own work and I'm hoping I can do myself justice in these semi-finals.

Zoe Carlton

My name is Zoe Carlton I have been floor fitting for a few years now and I'm really enjoying it. I started off as a fully qualified city and guilds landscape gardener but decided to widen my skills. I have attended a few courses such as the FITA LVT course. In my spare time when I'm not working, I enjoy playing 8 ball pool competitively and throwing a few darts.

I started in the flooring industry in 1984 working for my brother fitting carpets and vinyls. After having a long break from the industry, I returned and set up my own business in the early 90s. I started laying tiles mainly Marley and Amtico and as more LVT products became popular I stepped up my training attending various manufacturers LVT courses and also completed an NVQ in flooring and tiling.
Overcoming mental health issues in recent years to be at the LVT FOTY semi-finals for the 3rd time. I look forward to the challenge and meeting and competing against the other semi-finalists at FOTY 2025.

My name is Bryn Hawkins. I started floor laying after leaving the Royal Marines in 2017. I got married to my wife Hollie last year who supports me in everything I do. I joined the team at Trio flooring in 2021. I work with a great team who have really pushed me to progress within the company and provide a lot of training to help me reach my full potential.

Daniel Jones

My name is Daniel Jones, I'm 55 and married with 4 children. I have been in the flooring industry for 37 years. My main area of flooring is LVT and vinyl. I am currently employed by Oxford City Flooring. My greatest achievements have been gaining my citb accreditation in LVT and being asked to become a trainer at Floorskills along with reaching the finals of the European LVT competition held in 2019 and FOTY 2021 & 2023.

With over 25 years in flooring, I discovered my true passion for installing Luxury Vinyl Tile about seven years ago. I take immense pride in my craft, thriving among fellow installers who share my dedication. This year, I'm thrilled to have qualified for the NICF LVT Fitter of the Year competition, a testament to my ambition and commitment to excellence in every project.

I've been in the trade for 25 years, running my own business, York Floor Design for the last 5. I'm passionate about flooring and always pushing boundaries to create designs that stand out. I love finding new ways to make a floor the focal point of a space. This competition is a chance to test myself against the best in the trade, and I can't wait to get started. I'm Allan Milford and live in Exeter, Devon. I've been in the flooring trade since 1989, started with carpet and progressed into LVT after many years fitting carpet. I've attended numerous courses to progress my professional development. I had to the opportunity to work with the best across Europe. Great pleasure to be in this semi-final to push myself to a higher level.

I'm Dean. I've been in the industry for 25 years. Originally trained up by my Dad working in council refurbs, I then discovered LVT and found my calling! After multiple training courses and pushing myself to learn as much as I can, the next logical step was LVT Fitter of the Year, to see how I fair against some of the best in the game. I'm hoping to make my family proud, especially my Dad.
